Mentoring
As anybody who has successfully started or run a small business will confirm, it can be a lonely and difficult job. There are frequently major decisions to be made on a wide range of issues, finance, marketing, staff, premises and so on, all at a time when day-to-day activity is taking all your available resources and more!
It is at times like these when the opportunity to talk things through with a successful experienced business mentor can be invaluable. At Gloucestershire Enterprise Limited we have a team of trained mentors willing to work with you to help your business reach stability.
What does the mentor do?
A mentor is defined as ‘A wise or trusted adviser and guide'. Mentoring is a unique partnership set up for or by two individuals. It is shaped by the needs and aspirations of the client and the talents and resources of the mentor.
The mentor can assist with business planning, general business advice and guidance, specialist technical expertise and personal coaching.
Who is it for?
The service is principally designed to support people running small businesses in Gloucestershire. It is available from the early years onwards and can help with a wide range of business issues. Why not give us a call and see if it is right you?
How does it work in practice?
By talking with you and taking account of your particular needs, we will identify the most appropriate mentor for you. Together you then make your own ground rules for an ongoing relationship. We do not want to be too prescriptive but experience shows that regular meetings, say monthly, but possibly more frequently in the early days, supplemented by telephone conversations as necessary, gives the right level of support.
How long does it last?
We believe the full benefits will be seen over a period of about a year and initial agreements will reflect this. The agreement can be reviewed on a quarterly basis and extended for further periods if desired.
What does it cost?
The initial meeting with a mentor will be free, if you wish to proceed the cost will be £120 plus VAT per annum - either payable as a lump sum or quarterly.
